In And Around St Ives

The Cornish town of St Ives meaning is a wonderful seaside town, near the end of the country not far from lands end. It lies north of Penzance and due west of the town Camborne. Its always been known as a fishing town and dating back fishing was its main source of productivity. As fishing declined over the years St Ives became a seaside town, now famous for its clear water, harbour, rolling waves, restaurants and friendly town folk.

Truro City Info

The place know as Truro is the City for Cornwall, it is located at the highest fording river point of the beautiful Fal Estuary a very popular place to visit as its an area of the outstanding countryside in the heart of Cornwall. The Kenwyn “Dowr Ith” in Cornish, Allen, and Glasteinan (Tinney) has a sweeping merge into Truro River to subsequently become the River Fal below Malpas, this is also an area of popularity, with woods and places to moor boats. Truro has a wonderful Cathedral, and well worth a visit.

Whats on Penzance

The Town of Penzance OR “Pennsans” “Holy headland” to be said in the Cornish language which refers to the location of a certain chapel nowadays which is called St Anthony’s Chapel that is said to have stood over a 1,000 years ago on the main headland to the west of what became know as Penzance Harbour. By train, it is the last stopping point before Lands End, and therefore the main hub for coming into and out of Cornwall.
